Kiev, January 27. the Ukrainian Institute of national memory was proposed to abolish the "Soviet holidays", namely the labour Day (1 may), Victory Day (9 may) and international women's day (8 March).
"I think we should be talking about this public holiday as may 1. Gradually and precisely it is necessary to transfer accent from may 9 to may 8," — said the Director of the Institute Volodymyr viatrovych in an interview with "Apostrophe".
He added that a draft law, which also is not supported the celebration of March 8 at the state level, will be presented to public soon.
According to Vyatrovich, in Ukraine it should be noted only those holidays that are associated with a turning point for the country events.
